Me: Caleb, please pick up your trains. It's time for a nap.
Caleb: Um. . . no, thank you.
Me: Yes. You need to obey Mommy. Pick up your trains right now, please.
Caleb: Um. . . no, thank you.
So, while it seems we need to work on prompt obedience, I'd say we have the polite words part down pat.

I remember a child who was taught to say "thank you, ma'am" or "thank you, sir" after they received a swat on the tush.
reminds me of the time when Michael was small and I sent him to his room and in passing,on a table was a small Humble....he picked it up and said "your lucky I didn't throw this at you"....he did go on to his room...I just about lost it from holding back from laughing...wondering just WHO was the lucky one!!!!
How funny! Katherine does the exact same thing.
